Dakota Petersen

I am a landscape photographer of over fifteen years based out of Phoenix, Arizona. I work to make images which celebrate the diverse environments of the southwest on their terms, their timescales, in a way that is intimately local. I have utilized both digital and analog techniques extensively over the years, and find myself favoring medium-format film for its timeless sense of presence. My hope is to make art which challenges simple notions of natural beauty, instead rewarding a deeper love of the complexity shared between species, places, and histories.
